Communicating

Communicating

The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished. ~George Bernard Shaw

Whether your goal is to be an artist, entrepreneur, CEO, Politian, pastor, or something else, there’s a pretty good chance you will interact with other people along the way. Unless your plan is to work in a vacuum and be unknown to anyone ever, you’ll have to factor these other people into your equation of success. ~ partners, patrons, investors, bosses, clients, constituents, customers, and even critics. Depending on your goal, working and communicating effectively with others may be a big factor or a little factor.

Coming together is a Beginning; Keeping together is Progress; Working together is Success. ~Henry Ford

An Abrasive personality is I believe the single most common cause for failure in the lives of otherwise seemingly bright men and women.

The wrong words said at the wrong time discourage me.
The wrong words said at the right time frustrate me.

The right words said at the wrong time confuse me.

The right words said at the right time Encourage me!

People Can Tell The Difference Between Hollow Words And Something That Is Said From The Heart.

Business man Don Bennett was the first amputee to climb to the summit of Mount Rainer. That’s 14,410 feet, on one leg and two crunches! During an especially difficult portion of the climb, Bennett and his team had to cross an ice field. To get across the ice, the climbers had to put metal spikes on their boots for traction. Unfortunately, one boot didn’t help Bennett much. The only way he could get across the ice field was to fall face forward onto the ice, pull himself as far forward as he could, stand up, and then fall forward again. Bennett’s teenage daughter, Kathy, was with him on the climb. She stayed by his side through the entire four hour struggle. She kept cheering him on, saying, “You can do it, Dad. You’re the best dad in the world. You can Do it!” His daughter’s words spoken from the heart, helped him to keep going.

You have the Power in your mouth to Change somebody’s day ~ or perhaps even their whole life. Just by saying the right thing at the right time, from the heart.

Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances. ~Proverbs 25:11
How’s your Mouth?

Do you have good oral hygiene?

Oh, give me a home where the Buffalo roam Where the Deer and the Antelope play; Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, And the sky is not cloudy all day. ~Home on the range. Kansas State song!

Trusting these are Good encouraging Words in your ear.

Dude! Pastor Mark, The Rolling Stones?
You got my attention. “Communication” is everything.
GREAT BIBLE STUDY!!!!
Does anyone remember this “Stones” song?
I Just Want To See His Face lyrics/ Rolling Stones
“That's all right, that's all right, that's all right.
Sometimes you feel like trouble, sometimes you feel down.
Let this music relax you mind, let this music relax you mind.
Stand up and be counted, can't get a witness.
Sometimes you need somebody, if you have somebody to love.
Sometimes you ain't got nobody and you want somebody to love.
Then you don't want to walk and talk about Jesus,
You just want to see His face.
You don't want to walk and talk about Jesus,
You just want to see His face.”

Thanks for some more wise words.

God made us all different although we primarily communicate with words we also speak with body language, facial expressions, emotions or we might send smoke signals. You might find the sound of someones voice irritating, or they might choose the wrong words you may read their face wrong or be down wind of the smoke signals but remember abrasion usually smooths rough surfaces. I believe we are wired differently but the plug goes into the same socket. If you put a Buick computer into a ford it probably wouldn't even start even though they use the same 12 volt battery. If you hook up two 12 volt batteries in series which means all positive terminals with positive terminals and negative and negative All that you can get is 12 volts no matter how many you hook together. .When you hook two 12 volt batteries up parallel you hook the positive terminal on one battery to the negative terminal on the other and you will get 24 volts don't try this on your car you will burn out the wiring.I think if we learn to harness our communications we can be more powerful as a group and fellow Christians. IS there a foul Oder coming out of your mouth? LOL Maybe its a sweet smell i don't know but if its smoke something is probably burning up.

Communication in a marriage:
Intimate communication may not be worth the effort without love. Love is critical to the relationship. Yet alone it is not enough.

If there is love, however, and if the relationship is important to you then you must focus on communication. Only through good, true communication can you realize the joy of love. Good communication makes love possible, certainly makes it better, and ultimately may be love itself.

Why do you take things so personal? GOD is GOD! Who cares what man has to say.

Mr. and Mrs. Muniz (version. 2.0) said...

"...O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned..."

Jesus - Matt. 34-37

Although a parrot can talk, he can't choose the words that come out of his mouth. He only repeats what he hears.

We are the only creatures created by God that can choose what we say.

Pastor Mark, thanks for making us "Think" Perhaps we will also learn to do this before we speak?

I have always said that MUSIC is the most powerful language known to Man. Without ever uttering a word, one can use music to bring smiles to the faces of a room of 100 people, none of whom speak the same language... or move them to tears.

One of the reasons I so much LOVE Christian music (with very clear, unmistakable lyrics) is because it uses that most powerful LANGUAGE to convey the most powerful MESSAGE! \o/

Although I could not sing my way out of a single-ply, wet napkin, I CAN play MP3's and CD's of songs that draw people into HIS presence. That was what I did on the radio.

I know firsthand that the power of Christ-centered music is indescribable! \o/ When people are drawn into HIS presence through Praise & Worship, He inhabits their praises... and we get to feel it every Sunday through the talent and ANOINTING of our wonderful worship team! \o/

Probably the most wonderful use of the tongue is when it is singing to the LORD! God has these wonderful filters on His ears, so even if your singing is as bad as mine, it's beautiful when He hears it! \o/ (Willie)

Wow How I've read that part of scripture before and it never spoke to me as much as it does right now.I stopped and refelcted on times that my mouth has hurt people and stirred up trouble and times my mouth has blessed people and help them. I don't have to say more other than that I'm going to put in extra effort today to check each word out of my mouth and pay attention as to how edifies those around me and doesn't offend my God. I mean, yeah we all know that we need to be in control of our mouth, but man who wants to be subject of a forest fire set ablaze from the depths of hell? ouch! Guilty as charged.
I'm also going to be sure to fill up the nail holes and paint the tops of the doors.
Thanks for your time and efforts Pastor Mark. Cecilia and I enjoyed this bible study and are going to make application.

Lord, forgive me!!
I think I may need a Root –canal there have been a few too many things that have come out of my mouth that were nasty! Thanks Pastor for telling the truth. Even when you know we won’t probably like it. I’m defiantly in the market for a spiritual bridal to help guard and control my tounge.

Thank you PM....my mouth has gotten me in more trouble than I can remember....God's wisdom is unbelievable. It's never wanting; it's always so chock full of wisdom. If only I spent my entire adult life listening to His voice. Thank God for His mercy, grace and re-building power.
Psalm 119:39-41
39 Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good.
40 I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.
Waw
41 Lord, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me.

The Selah was fantastic today !!

I have caught myself on occassion feeling uneasy whenever I've read about "the fear of the Lord". Thank you PM for making it so clear that it is a respect and appreciation for what He has done for us....how much He loves us....to what extent He went to show us.
Romans 5:7-9
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

"Lord I'm Amazed by You, How You love me...."

\O/ Dear Father Thank You for Loving me !!

Hey PM good Selahs the past two days...Learning and Reaching for Excellance...whewwww!!
I pray every morning as I'm heading to work that I can give it my best. There are so many areas I want to be better...as a husband, a father...man I need God's spirit to overwhelm me and fill me with His power to do so....thanks for those thoughts.

Hey all, I'm feelin repetative but when I come home I have a few song selections on my computer desktop that I fire up to fill me with His spirit after a hard days work. Please check this out..copy and past it on the web to hear it.

He Is Lord!!

I love the chorus....you can really charge yourself up and feel His presence..

"And NOW let the earth RESOUND with praise"
"For our Saviour God He reigns, He is high and lifted up"
"ARISE, for the KING OF GLORY waits
"HE IS COMING BACK AGAIN!!, He is coming back again".

John 14:27-29 (Amplified Bible)
27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]
28 You heard Me tell you, I am going away and I AM COMING (BACK) TO YOU!! If you [really] loved Me, you would have been glad, because I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater and mightier than I am.
29 AND NOW I have told you [this] before it occurs, so that when it does take place you may believe and have faith in and rely on Me.

Thank you Father for your promised return....."He is coming back again...He is coming back again"!!!

Well Glory!! \O/ In Jesus Name, Amen

I think last night's bible study clarifies the entire subject of communication! Find a place, visit it regularly, and communicate with your Heavenly Father. It's called The Secret Place....where life is changed for those who frequent it.

If you couldn't make it to church last night...get the CD and the booklet. Then try to make the next few weeks. This current teaching has all the hall marks of one of the best ever.

Great job Pastor Mark. Thanx for all you put into this, and the Selah's, and the Blog...and me....one big fat sheep!!!!

Shane

PS...Willie & Kim....your friends prayed for you at church last night. Hope all is well with Kim.

Here's a great example of COMMUNICATION in action! :)

1'st, thank you, Pastor Mark, for the message on the answering machine. :) I'll play it for Kim when she calls or gets home, whichever comes 1'st. :)

Shane, Anonymous, and everyone else: THANK YOU! :) Yes, I will definitely be buying that CD! We only missed being there, because Kim was admitted to the Hosp. on Thursday!

Here is an update:

She is still in the hospital, and most likely will be until Tuesday. (Standard proceedure.) It is a blood clot in her right leg, which caused her ankle to swell up. She is responding very well to treatment, so far, and the swelling has dimished a LOT!

She is in good spirits, too. :)

The most difficult thing she struggles with in ANY kind of medical situation, though, is FEAR. Please pray that the LORD gives her His Divine peace! \o/

See you all in Church tomorrow morning... after that, I will be with Kim at the hosp. (St. Raphaels in New haven.)

GOD BLESS!! \o/

This was a very timely Blog. I really enjoyed reading it and the following Bible Study. I struggle in this area from time to time and have been convicted about my untamed tongue since I've become saved. People have told me at times that my tongue cuts like a knife, A Ginsu knife to be exact. Though the "Ginsu" is considered a superior knife, I don't believe the comment was supposed to be taken as a compliment or that this trait was considered a superior trait. I took it to mean that my words couldn't be more destructive.Whether intentionally or unintentionally I "slip up" and stay prayerful about this aspect of my life. I am aware of the impact of harmful words. I even bought the book "Me and My Big Mouth" by Joyce Myers to help me in this area. It is a wonderful book. This blog was just as helpful and was a confirmation to me that God is guiding and leading me in this area. He has not left my side in this battle with Satan on my new walk with him. He puts just this sort of information out there for me in unexpected places to reinforce this message. I came to this website to read about Emotional Intelligence but God wanted to reinforce his message to me about the harmful effects of the untamed tongue. Wonderful Blog, glad I came! :o)
