DON'T WORRY . . . No photos this week!!!
What a great invention!
Dating back almost 7,000 years the loincloth is the simplest form of underwear; it was probably the first undergarment worn by human beings. In warmer climates the loincloth was often the only clothing worn (effectively making it an outer garment rather than an undergarment, and you thought Madonna started this fad), but in colder regions the loincloth often formed the basis of a person's clothing and was covered by other garments. In most ancient civilizations, this was the only undergarment available. The first, and simplest, was a long strip of material which passed between the legs and then around the waist. Archaeologists have found the remains of such loincloths made of leather dating back almost 7,000 years. (Yeah, that’s right I said “Leather” Ouch!)
Mark, are you kidding, you want to talk to us about Underwear?
Not really, I find it rather embarrassing.
But I will do almost anything to make a point.
You see, Underwear is necessary, in fact they are essential.
But they are regarded (by most) as Indecent if they Show.
What I really want to talk to you about is HUMILITY…… and
Humility Is Like Underwear, Essential, But Indecent If It Shows. ~ Helen Nielsen
Humility has been defined as the silence of the soul before God, but also there is a silence that humility displays before others.
There is an attraction about the person who is not bent on superimposing his opinions and wishes upon others, but whose mind is open and ready to listen. We feel we can talk to a person like that. He will not only be ready to listen but ready to consider that we may be right.
A truly wise man is not so much concerned with, or conscious of what he knows, but is more concerned with what there is still to learn.
In the person of true spiritual influence, there is a humility that makes him attractive and a quietness about his behavior that causes people to “Listen.”
I love this quote:
To Become Truly Great, One Has To Stand With People, Not Above Them.
~Charles De Montesquieu

It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.
“Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.” Saint Augustine
Oh how funny..the title. I am so thankful for LOTS and LOTS of size "2T" panties...what a week! Sorry just a little laugh for all the moms out there...
Love this weeks Blog! I found a couple of quotes. For the "gotta' be right all the time people"
"Lord, where we are wrong, make us willing to change, where we are right, make us easy to live with."
Peter Marshall
This is good...
"How do we know we have a servants heart? By how we act when we are treated like one."
Unknown
and check it out, I finally understand him...
"Be not proud of race, face, place, or grace."
Charles Spurgeon
and my last one,
"When someone sings his own praises, he always gets the tune too high"
Mary H. Waldrip
This was fun, and it was helpful, I have never looked up quotes before, I know, this whole Blog thing has really been a great tool for me. Thanks P. Mark
Lord help me to live "in tune"

Hi Mark. This is a new experience for me, I am finally entering the internet world (is that a good thing?)I am trying to prove that you can teach old dogs new tricks! So, here goes. I read and appreciated your blog today, thank you. When I reached the end of the bible study I was surprised to read the paragraph refering to the water and the ship. For the past two years at least I have had sitting on my desk a page from a little calendar with the following rhyme on it. It is a constsnt reminder to me of the truth you illustrate in that statement. I copy it here for all fellow bloggers to see."All the water in the world however hard it tried, could never sink a single ship unless it got inside. All the evil in the world, the wickedness and sin, can never sink your soul's fair craft unless you let it in" I also liked your comment on Christian "posts" and "trees" and I can heartily endorse your recommendation of Carter Conlin's "Quiet Times" it has been a longtime favorite of mine.
Happy Saint David's day, Love Mom..

Great blog once again Pastor Mark. The next time I wear my leather jacket, I'll be thankful for the advancement of cotton!!!
Owning your own business humbles you, at least it seems to humble me on a very regular basis. You realize that you can do absolutley nothing without God. The size of your company doesn't matter, your intellect (not that I have much!) doesn't matter, your financial resources don't matter. Nothing matters except God. I am reminded daily that I cannot run my business without my partner, Jesus Christ. I'm simply the shop foreman, He is the CEO. I need Him to help me, guide me, direct me, teach me, and beat me over the head when I need it too. I am reminded constantly that I just can't do it without Him. I am reminded constantly how much I need to depend on my Lord. My business is one way in which the Lord keeps me humble.
Lord help me to be humble in your sight. Help me to rely on you like never before. Help me to be humble and grateful for all that you mean to me, for all that you have done for me. Banish pride and any remnant of it from me and instill in me a spirit of humility, in Jesus' name....Amen
Thanx Pastor....great reminder of who really is in charge!!! Shane
PM another "whew"....humility, it's that fulcrum, that point that you either get it or you don't....if you don't nothing else matters for you because you are doomed....it will determine whether anything done at Calvary will make a difference in your life. I am humbled every singe day of my life with the understanding that if it wasn't for God's Mercy, Grace, Love and Affection for me I would be completely and utterly lost.
I am an Albert Einstein fan....although he may have been a pantheist, he was still humbled by the knowledge of the presence and existence of God....here's a couple of Einstein Quotables....
"I want to know how God created this world.I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts. The rest are details."
"None can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life".
"Everything is determined.....by forces over which we have no control. It is determined for the insect as well as for the star. Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust....we all dance to a mysterious tune intoned in the distance by an invisible piper".
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Thank you Father for making me understand that I am totally dependant on YOU...for humbling me. Thank you for Loving me, upholding me, embracing me, supporting me, defending me and just simply caring for me so....in Jesus name...Amen

Psalm 149:3-5
3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with tambourine and harp.
4 For the LORD takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with salvation.
5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.
In Jesus' Name....Amen
Are Willie and Bob on vacation???

Hey New Life,
3 really good humility quotes I found were...
"Humility is not thinking less of yourself.....
it's thinking of yourself less..."
- Rick Warren
"Humility is to make a right estimate of one's self. It is no humility for a man to think less of himself than he ought, though it might rather puzzle him to do that."
- Charles Spurgeon
"Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple."
- Barry Switzer
P.S. Here's a funny picture I found about "christian underwear"... I'm sure you'll find it comical in the right sense

Hope to see everyone this Sunday... or maybe even sooner, hopefully... Jesus is coming soon!!! What a great thought to think about every morning... PERHAPS TODAY!!!... how would our lives be different if we knew today was THE DAY??
Humility... the Word gives us many ways on how to practice it; Jesus' words and examples show us how and when to apply it; a relationship (that special bond) with Him compels us and moves us to live it - demonstrate it... One of our favorite lessons is found in Matthew 6:2-4 says "Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly."
How great to know that even though man does not see it, appreciate it or understand it, the One Who Matters Most does...
Happy Friday!!

I think there are 2 phrases that provide the most humility(make me humble) is "I'm wrong" as it takes a lot of self reflection and honestly with myself to admit that it could be true and that I actually have to verbalize it to someone
The Second is "I'm sorry" because I am leave myself vulnerable of someone accepting my apology and the potential pain if that not happening
I really appreciated this weeks Blog and enjoyed reading others comments and quotes. I think that reading quotes is great, because they make you say hmmm! But even better than that is understanding and applying them to your life. I have a couple to add to the blog:
"Common looking people are the best in the world: that is the reason the Lord makes so many of them."
Abraham Lincoln
"Do you wish people to think well of you? Don't speak well of yourself."
Blaise Pascal
and lastly,
"Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues."
Confucius
Thanks for the homework Pastor Mark!
It was fun.
Lord help me live a life of humility!
Tish C.
"Stupid is as stupid does" - Forrest Gump
"It was impossible to get a conversation going, everybody was talking too much" - Yogi Berra
"Thinking is a lot harder than it looks" - anonymous
Lord help me to "think" and not "talk" so much and I won't do as many "stupid" things. I can't do anything RIGHT without you all around me.
Just wanted to Thank Moe and Di, your blog comment encouraged me. It was good to read this today. Thanks!

Hey Shane!!! When are we going to have that pint.....of coke that is with a good berger from Dutches??
I wish I was on vacation brother.....
see you Sunday
Good Selah PM....thank God that my salvation is not based upon me as a person but simply on the depth of my faith....thank you Father for drawing me to you and thank you for touching my heart to respond
John 6:44-45
44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
Psalm 62:6-8
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah
I am so thankful that my salvation DOES NOT depend on me...."whew"....man let me tell you...that would not be good at all....of all the gifts we could ever dream of, this one gift can never be matched....
Ephesians 2:6-8
6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.....
thank you Father for your the depth of your Grace....thank you for touching my heart for me to BELIEVE in You, in Jesus name...Amen
I'll just share is this quote that just turns my knees to jello every time...
"Every now and then, the GOD of the the Universe pauses...
... from all His Creation...
just to touch the heart of one person."
And then, this passage... I can't read this without getting tears in my eyes. <:')
PSALM 8:3-4 "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4) What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?"
Here am I, less than a speck of dust...
Thank You, Father. \o/
Humility crushes pride but if not handled correctly, pride will turn humility into a good show.
"Shiny Happy People"
Can we remind this nation that keeping score in T-ball is ok. My daughter wants to WIN all the time and in everything and I want to let her win but sometimes I need let her see feel the agony of defeat so that she could GROW as not only a young Christian but as a human.
If we take away losing, we fill heads with nonsense which leads to PRIDE that crushes humility.

QUOTATION: Humility, that low, sweet root
From which all heavenly virtues shoot.

So, this blog entry really has very little to do with underwear and all to do with the essential character trait of humility.
I think that when we think of others more and ourselves less, we will begin walking in humility. A constant awareness of the work of the blood of Jesus and how that without it, we are NOTHING, keeps us humble and grateful.
Now, I must disagree that underwear is "essential"...ob/gyn doctors tell us there are health benefits to "going commando" (and women should always do so when at home). :-)
Hi I'd love to thank you for such a terrific quality site!
