Underwear

DON'T WORRY . . . No photos this week!!!

What a great invention!

Dating back almost 7,000 years the loincloth is the simplest form of underwear; it was probably the first undergarment worn by human beings. In warmer climates the loincloth was often the only clothing worn (effectively making it an outer garment rather than an undergarment, and you thought Madonna started this fad), but in colder regions the loincloth often formed the basis of a person's clothing and was covered by other garments. In most ancient civilizations, this was the only undergarment available. The first, and simplest, was a long strip of material which passed between the legs and then around the waist. Archaeologists have found the remains of such loincloths made of leather dating back almost 7,000 years. (Yeah, that’s right I said “Leather” Ouch!)

Mark, are you kidding, you want to talk to us about Underwear?

Not really, I find it rather embarrassing.

But I will do almost anything to make a point.

You see, Underwear is necessary, in fact they are essential.

But they are regarded (by most) as Indecent if they Show.

What I really want to talk to you about is HUMILITY…… and

Humility Is Like Underwear, Essential, But Indecent If It Shows. ~ Helen Nielsen

Humility has been defined as the silence of the soul before God, but also there is a silence that humility displays before others.

There is an attraction about the person who is not bent on superimposing his opinions and wishes upon others, but whose mind is open and ready to listen. We feel we can talk to a person like that. He will not only be ready to listen but ready to consider that we may be right.

A truly wise man is not so much concerned with, or conscious of what he knows, but is more concerned with what there is still to learn.

In the person of true spiritual influence, there is a humility that makes him attractive and a quietness about his behavior that causes people to “Listen.”

I love this quote:

To Become Truly Great, One Has To Stand With People, Not Above Them.
~Charles De Montesquieu

Do you have a favorite Quote or thought about Humility? Why not try to find one and POST it in the Comments below!!!! Let’s hear from you!

2 more things before you go off to be Humble.

In the Books we recommend section (Below right) you have to own the CD “Quite Times” by Carter Conlon….Listening to it and meditating will Humble you. I promise. It is the most powerful Anti-depressant tool I have ever experienced.

Gratitude

An emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received; a sentiment of kindness or good will towards a benefactor; thankfulness. Gratitude is an agreeable emotion, consisting in or accompanied with good will to a benefactor, and a disposition to make a suitable return of benefits or services, or when no return can be made, with a desire to see the benefactor prosperous and happy. Gratitude is a virtue of the highest excellence, as it implies a feeling and generous heart, and a proper sense of duty. ~Noah Webster

I always feel sorry for people who struggle with the outward expression of Gratitude.

The very action of saying “Thank-You”, and meaning it, opens the spirit to a true sense of appreciation. In giving thanks, something moves inside the center of our spirits and allows the wonder of what has been done for us to invade us.

I Am Not Sure We Really Receive Something Unless We Give Thanks For It!

Not the fullness of the gift. Not the treasure of it, its true value. Not what the giver perhaps planned for us to have and enjoy….. Not unless we Give-Thanks!

Gratitude Is Your Gift Back To A Giver…….

Of late Deb & I have been griped with an overwhelming sense of How Good God has been to us. Have you ever thought, perhaps God has me mixed up with someone who is really good and deserves these blessings?

What A Wonderful Savior!

What a Wonderful Church family at New Life.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
~Johnson Oatman, Jr. 1897

Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle. ~Amy Bloom

Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings. ~Anais Nin

Love: a temporary insanity, curable by marriage .~ Ambrose Bierce

If you have love in your life it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don't have it, no matter what else there is, it's not enough. ~Ann Landers

Knowing God

STAY CONNECTED!

Something awful will happen if you are out of touch with the people who count.

NOTHING!

Face it we all need somebody. To make us somebody!

It’s Not What You Know It’s Who You Know……….

Be in touch! Make the right connections. Then, do whatever it takes to hold on to them!Maintaining alliances is one of the keys to your success. Staying connected is the essence of achievement! In Business matters. In Family relationships. In Spiritual issues.

Never take your personal or business relationships for granted.

What you take for granted disappears!

Keeping in touch is the antidote for taking for granted.

Staying connected is proof that the relationship is special!

(This is why you are supposed to leave a comment below!)

Staying connected takes some effort! It requires a follow- up plan for it to work! Plan to stay connected and you will stay connected! Connections last only as long as we continue to actively invest in them.

The number one reason salespeople fail is because they don't ask for the order. The number two reason salespeople fail is because they do not follow-up on what they get started! Create your own effective follow-up system for keeping connected.

"Love 'em and leave 'em!" doesn't work!

People will go places, do things and go out of their way to associate with people who make them feel important, cared for, worthwhile. Your challenge is to stay connected and provide those needs for the special people in your life.

Even The “Lone Ranger” had Tonto!!

Do you think we would have ever heard of Robin (the Boy Wonder) if he didn’t hang out with Batman!

Writing notes to friends, customers and clients is an excellent way to stay connected!

Use the telephone to stay in touch. Having a good reason to call is better than having lots of people to call. Before you pick up the phone, make a brief list of what you want to communicate.

Have a specific idea to discuss and be sure that the reason you call is important to the person called.

Keep it brief. Say hello, establish the relationship again, then get to the point, say what you want to say and get off of the phone! One reason people hesitate to use the phone is because they are afraid they will get hooked into a long, drawn-out conversation. If you know what you want to say, this won't happen. Respect their time and they will respect your time. A brief telephone connection is better than no connection at all!

Send a card or drop an email someone’s way, just to say hello, and leave an encouraging word. It may not seem like much at the moment, but you just might make their day!
Life is all about Connections and getting to KNOW the right people.

(Fabulous book by John Maxwell “25 Ways To Win with People.” Easy practical mentoring moments with application exercises at the end of each chapter. Someone Is Always Observing You Who Is Capable Of Greatly Blessing You.

Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Anna in The King & I

Listen, if we haven’t told you lately

It’s Great to have you as a part of our New Life Family!

Lots of new people coming to church….
Could we impose on you and ask you to leave your busy, tired, worn-out, grumpy, life has ripped me off, I’m only just making it myself, nobody cares about me, eeyore, attitude at home. Bring your Happy face mask and Connect with someone who just might need you to make them Somebody!

Remember attitudes are contagious, so you have to ask yourself is mine worth catching?
