Looking Backwards To Go Forward!

Yesterday,

All my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said, Something wrong, now I long for yesterday. ~
Beatles

I Don’t long for yesterday, but I do like to LOOK back and Learn.

As human beings we learn best through direct experience.

We acquire deeper wisdom through world lessons than we do through word lessons:

Word lessons teach through Concepts;

World lessons teach through Experience.

Concepts may provide a map; experience involves a journey.

No experience is ever wasted because every experience contains a lesson.

The lessons of experience are always positive even if the experience is not!

There is a story of a young scholar from a privileged family who spends most of his time reading and studying the great teachings. One day, while traveling, he comes to a wide river and finds a boatman to take him across. During the crossing, to pass the time, the scholar describes his lifetime of studies. As he does, the boatman listens attentively. Then, after a time, he says to the young man, “You have learned much, sir ~ but have you learned how to swim?” “Why, no,” he replies. “I have not.” “Then I’m afraid your knowledge is of little use,” says the boatman, “for this boat is sinking.”

Direct experience remains the most powerful teacher; a book can provide a map of the territory, a preparation that enables us to learn more from our experience. A book can help point the way, but we must still make the journey.

Experience is not what happens, but what we do with what happens. ~ A. Huxley

When we “Look Backwards” into our yesterdays we don’t have to go far to see the Faithfulness of God.

What would happen in our “Today’s” if we really Remembered what God has done for us?

Would we Doubt Less?

Would we Fear Less?

Would we Attempt More?

Would we Be Dangerous?

And Moses said to the people, [Earnestly] remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage and bondmen, for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place; ~Exodus 13:3

I will [earnestly] recall the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will [earnestly] remember the wonders [You performed for our fathers] of old. ~Psalm 77:11

Be empowered by your own Yesterdays. Learn from others.

Deb & I are Thankful for our yesterdays and Gods unfailing faithfulness.

Let’s keep looking backwards so we can move forward as a church.

See you in Church.

Hey! How about a little feedback? Just say Hi. Tell us where you are. Tell us something you learned by “Experience.”

X-Ray Vision

How Cool was Superman?

Faster than a speeding bullet. Able to leap tall buildings. Was that a bird? A plane? Super hearing, super strength, heat vision. Wow!

And what about that X-Ray Vision, when you’re a 13 year old kid this stuff all sounds pretty cool. What is in the teachers desk drawer? What is going on over at your friends house? Hard to walk by the girls locker room and keep your eyes on regular setting!

What if we had a Vision setting that was past the normal range.

What if we had not only the “Focused Vision” we Blogged about last time.

What if we could see into the Spiritual Realm and “see” what the Devil was up to?

X-Ray vision: Seeing Through Satan’s Schemes

The name Devil derives from the Greek word diabolos, which means ‘slanderer’ or ‘accuser’.

He isThe father of lies; the accuser of the brethren; the great separator; The Tempter.

But what if we could “SEE” what he was up to?

Would it help us?

Would it make him less powerful?

Would it make The church more Power-Filled?

He is one slippery character, hiding in the shadows, happy not to be seen as long as his agenda is carried out.

The destruction of the family, the tearing down of God’s Kingdom, abuse of every sort, mayhem and malicious injury. These are his tools.

Lex Luthor is a wimp next to this guy.

The Church in America today is in desperate need of an outpouring of Godly Discernment. Keenly selective judgment is needed as “New Age” “Holistic” even sometimes “Occult” methods are used in the Church.

For such men are false apostles [spurious, counterfeits], deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles (special messengers) of Christ (the Messiah). And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light; 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

We are under attack. Be warned. Be armed. Be Ready.

Jesus IS COMING SOON.

Deb & I are praying for you and your family!!!

Pray for us.

See You In Church.

Focused Vision

As Christians we live with the continual hope that Christ may return today, but part of today’s plan involves preparing for tomorrow. One of the primary leadership traits we find in God’s Word is the capacity for vision. Godly people are people with vision. They see as God sees. Their capacity doesn’t begin within themselves; it begins with God. It is He who opens their eyes. It is He who helps them see what others don’t see.

Godly vision helps us see many things, but among the greatest of these are God’s glory and purposes.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish” Proverbs 29:18

This verse literally tells us that when we do not hear from God, bad things happen. We can’t hope to lead God’s way if we can’t see God’s way.

The vision we’re talking about is not something we can measure with an eye chart at the doctor’s office. It’s vision from God, about God, in the service of God’s purposes.

One of the main reasons why people fail is because of Broken Focus.

You and I must realize that broken focus will destroy your dreams. In fact distraction from your assignment from God’s plan for your life will create an unending parade of tragedies and disappointments, even disaster in your life.

So stop looking at where you have been and start looking at where you can be.

This will not be easy; When you discover your assignment, you will discover your enemy. But Christ is with you!

Stay Focused. Stay Cool.

Deb & I are praying for you
